For women with significant vaginal stretching or deformation, vaginoplasty may be the most effective solution. RGV Cosmetic Surgery & Vein Center offers this and other vaginal rejuvenation procedures to women living in and around Brownsville, the Rio Grande Valley, McAllen, and all of South Texas.
What is a Vaginoplasty?
Vaginal relaxation can occur from having children and other natural processes that can result in a widened or relaxed vaginal canal. Many women complain of less gratifying sexual intercourse as the more ample vagina leads to less friction and in turn, less pleasure. For women who are simply too stretched out or who have true rectocele deformities, non-invasive options for vaginal rejuvenation such as ThermiVa® are not an option. This leaves vaginoplasty as one of the only options for restoring the tightness of the vagina and addressing issues regarding function and sexual pleasure. This is done by decreasing the diameter of the vaginal canal via surgery.
How is a Vaginoplasty Performed?
Vaginoplasty decreases the diameter of the vaginal canal by removing redundant vaginal tissue from the posterior side (bottom or rectal side) of the vagina. The underlying muscular tissue is plicated together to add strength to the vagina and add support to the bladder and rectum. This procedure has been performed for many years for treatment of rectal prolapse and is also known as a posterior colporrhaphy. The outer vagina and perineum (area between the vaginal and anal opening) is also tightened.
What Can I Expect After My Vaginoplasty?
After a vaginoplasty, you can expect the vagina to feel tighter, which will contribute to increased sexual pleasure from intercourse. The initial recovery period lasts about two weeks, during which patients may experience swelling and bruising due to the surgery. We recommend that patients wait a minimum of six weeks before resuming sexual intercourse to allow the vagina to fully recover. During your consultation, we will discuss what you can expect regarding results and recovery, and inform you of any instructions that need to be followed after your procedure.
How Much Does a Vaginoplasty Cost?
