Microneedling for Facial Rejuvenation, Scars, and Stretch Marks
Non-Laser Resurfacing, also known as Microneedling, Skin Needling, Microneedle Therapy, or Collagen Induction Therapy, was originally pioneered by renowned South African plastic surgeon Dr. Desmond Fernandes. The concept behind this therapy is to provoke your own skin cell regeneration and collagen production.
Similar to Fraxel laser resurfacing, Non-Laser Resurfacing will improve the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, large pores, and stretch marks. Improved skin tone and texture are also a benefit. At least 3-5 treatments are advised, usually separated by a few weeks to allow for tissue healing.
A small roller with multiple fine needles ranging in length is rolled over your skin. We literally make thousands of microscopic holes through the epidermis into the mid-dermis; this process stimulates your body’s ability to create new collagen. We are a catalyst in performing a “controlled injury” to your skin, and your body does the rest of the work.
The treatment can be performed on all skin types. A topical anesthetic is applied for a period of time prior to the dermal rolling, or Non-Laser Resurfacing. Often, we apply Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) over the resurfaced area or we can apply vitamins, enzymes, and peptides that are absorbed easily into the tissue and augment the treatment results.
RGV Cosmetic Surgery and Vein Care is proud to offer the Dermapen micro-needling technology for the treatment of wrinkles, fine lines, acne scarring, stretch marks, wound healing stimulation, skin tightening, lifting and rejuvenation. Unlike fractional laser technology, which can cause hyperpigmentation in darker skin types, Dermapen micro-needling is safe for all skin types and skin colors. The award-winning Dermapen is the world’s most advanced skin micro-needling device. Micro-needling treatments can also be combined with topical hyaluronic acid or platelet rich plasma (PRP) to provide enhanced results for facial rejuvenation. We have provided several educational videos below. Please call our office to schedule a private consultation in our MedSpa to learn more about these treatments.

Before & After
Microneedling with Topical Platelet Rich Plasma Mask or Injection
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy by facial mask or injections:
- Platelet-rich plasma is derived from a sample of your blood, which we obtain in our office during your visit. Your blood sample is placed in a centrifuge where we draw up a syringe full of the platelets, which are rich in healing growth factors, and inject or microneedling PRP into targeted areas of your face, such as your cheeks, your neck and around your eyes. The growth factors in the plasma stimulate the production of new collagen beneath the skin. This tissue regeneration adds volume and minimizes fine lines for a more youthful appearance. PRP also helps to create new blood vessels in the skin for a glowing complexion. Dermal fillers in combination with PRP injections can plump cheeks and add volume to the face with an immediate result. While it takes 4 to 6 weeks to realize the benefits of PRP, the results can last up to a year and a half. That’s because the growth factors continue to stimulate the creation of new collagen and tissue long after the initial treatment. And since you are using your own blood instead of a synthetic product, there is no risk of an adverse reaction.
